For groups of 10 or more adults, we grant graduated discounts on the fare after prior registration (except for short journeys under 6 km). Registration is required to ensure that your group can be seated on our train and that you can sit together. You get

Package Rail & Rhine Ship

On many Thursdays from May to September, we offer you an interesting day trip from Bonn to Engeln in the Eifel in cooperation with the passenger ship of the "MS Beethoven"!

From 10:00 a.m. you will take the boat from Bonn up the Rhine to Brohl. A freshly prepared lunch is served onboard the ship. After arriving in Brohl, we will pick you up by "Vulkan-Expreß" directly at the jetty and accompany you on a historic train journey up to the Eifel heights at Engeln (arrival at 3:40 p.m.). There is an opportunity for coffee & cake or a short walk before the return trip starts at 4:30 p.m. In Brohl the "MS Beethoven" is ready for you again and brings you back to Bonn, where you will arrive again around 8:00 p.m. It is possible to book dinner on board.

Our attractive combination offer includes shipping, lunch and a trip in the "Vulkan-Expreß" for only € 59.

Package Rail & Abbey

Not far from our narrow-gauge railway is the Lake Laach with the world-famous Benedictine abbey Maria Laach. On all operating days of the "Vulkan-Expreß" we are happy to offer you a combined offer with a trip in the "Vulkan-Expreß", lunch and a guided visit to the outdoor area of the monastery.

The day itinerary of this offer is based entirely on your wishes. We would like to show you two sample processes below. We would be happy to advise you about further options:

Combination with lunch

Your excursion begins at our Brohl BE train station at 10:15 a.m. with a ride in the "Vulkan-Expreß" through the Brohl valley up to the terminus in Engeln (at 11:40 a.m.). Afterwards you drive with your bus in approx. 20 minutes to the monastery Maria Laach where lunch will be served in the monastery restaurant. Afterwards, you can take a guided tour.

This variant can also be booked by smaller groups without their own bus by transferring with the 322 public bus. Other variations in the afternoon, e.g. with coffee & cake are possible!

We offer you this attractive combination option including a trip in the "Vulkan-Expreß", lunch or breakfast in the Vulkanstube tavern and a guided tour of the monastery for only € 42. Transfers are not included. Booking is possible directly through our Office.

Package Rail & Geyser

The largest cold water geyser in the world with a discharge height of 50 to 60 meters is located very close to our historic railway line! For groups with their own coach, we offer an exciting combination offer for a successful day trip!

On our operating days, you have the option of combining a trip in the "Vulkan-Expreß" with a visit to the geyser in various versions.

Whether you want to visit the geyser first or experience the train ride at the beginning, the unique combination of both highlights will delight you! You can either take the train up to the mountain to the final stop in Engeln and continue the tour with your coach to the geyser in Andernach, or choose the opposite route. With either option, we offer lunch at a nearby restaurant, which is included in the price.

We offer you the combination package "Rail & Geyser" including a trip in the "Vulkan-Expreß", lunch and a visit to the Geyser Experience Center with a boat trip to the Geyser eruption for an affordable € 54.

Package Rail & Brewery

The regional organic beer of the Vulkan brewery is brewed very close to our narrow-gauge railway. On all operating days of the "Vulkan Express" we are happy to offer you a combined offer with a trip on the "Vulkan-Expreß", lunch in the Vulkan brewery and a guided brewery tour.

Your excursion begins at our Brohl BE train station at 10:15 a.m. with a trip on the "Vulkan-Expreß" through the Brohltal up to the terminal station in Engeln (arriving at 11:40 a.m.). There you can visit the geogarden or take a short walk to a beautiful viewpoint.

Afterwards you take your bus in about 25 minutes to the Vulkan brewery in Mendig. There you have the opportunity to visit the famous brewing town of Mendig, which once had 28 breweries, and to descend into the unique lava cellar. In the brewery you will be spoiled with Eifel delicacies and tasty beer. The group ticket will be given to you when you make your booking.

Tip: This option can also be booked by smaller groups without their own bus by taking the Vulkanpark public bus (line 322). The destination stop is Mendig Lava-Dome, directly in front of the brewery.

Package Eifel Railway Experience

Experience a whole day of Eifel railway history! We invite you to extend your journey on the "Vulkan-Expreß" with a visit to the Ahütte Station museum and the Lissendorf Signal Box museum.

The "Vulkan-Expreß" departs at 10:15 a.m. in the morning from Brohl am Rhein to the Eifel Heights near Engeln (arriving at 11:40 a.m.). From there, you will continue your journey with your own coach to Üxheim-Ahütte in approximately 45 minutes. The Ahütte station, located on the former Upper Ahr Valley Railway (Remagen - Dümpelfeld - Hillesheim - Lissendorf - Jünkerath), has been converted into a museum and impressively tells the story of this village station, which lost its last passenger train in 1973. One of the railbuses used at that time has also been restored in front of the station.

After a tour of the station and lunch, you will continue your journey by coach to Lissendorf, approximately 20 minutes away, on the Eifel Main Line from Cologne to Trier. The signal box there was built in 1912 and served for decades as the central control point for railway operations on the Eifel line. Points and signals were set here to ensure smooth train traffic. Today, the signal box is a lovingly furnished museum that faithfully preserves the historic signaling technology and explains in detail how a mechanical signal box works. Visitors can observe the interaction of the lever bank, cable pulleys, and signaling technology and learn how train control worked before digitalization.
